Laura Britton Psychotherapist

I am a Child and Young Person Psychotherapist, EMDR Therapist and Certified Outdoor Therapist, offering online and in-person Outdoor Therapy sessions.

My career journey has been anything but linear. Initially, I embarked on the path of higher education, only to discover that it wasn't quite the right environment for me at that stage in my life. After taking some time to explore a variety of roles within administration and customer service, I eventually felt a yearning to return to university, where I could wholeheartedly immerse myself in my true passion. This pivotal decision allowed me to gather a wealth of diverse experiences that have profoundly shaped my perspective as a therapist.

Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of serving as a Careers Adviser in both schools and universities, guiding students as they navigate their future paths. Additionally, my journey has led me through the vibrant world of the tourism industry, where I thrived on engaging with people from all walks of life. Though my professional experiences may seem varied, they share a common thread: a deep-seated love for building meaningful connections. I have always found joy in listening to people's stories and assisting them in uncovering their own paths and solutions—an endeavour I am eager to undertake with you as well.

Before establishing my private practice, I honed my skills working with children and young adults in school counselling, where I was honoured to support students through challenging times. My experience also includes providing comfort and guidance to adults through a local hospice's bereavement service, helping them navigate their grief. Additionally, I took on the role of director at a Community Interest Company, where I offered essential psychotherapy services to schools and private clients. Each of these roles has enriched my practice and deepened my commitment to helping others find healing and growth.

Qualifications

I am firmly committed to my continual personal and professional development, ensuring that the therapy I provide is always ethical and effective. I actively participate in training and ongoing professional development, engage in regular supervision for all the therapy modalities I offer, and prioritise self-care to enhance my own well-being.
